- The Biggest Race You've Never Heard Of – Betsy Welch, VeloNews

In the historic, little town of Hico in Texas, the best gravel riders are all dueling May 14th.

Over 150 miles, on gravel roads in hot conditions, the best of the best are lining up to race one of the household races in the American gravel calendar.


La Loca is 150 miles (250 km) and will be a challenging route with gravel, in rural and nice surroundings.

It's forecasted 36°C and sun, so it will be hot.

 


Thursday 5/12
5:30 to 8:30 pm: Dinner + mingle with the pros in Burleson, TX

Friday 5/13
10:00 am - 2:00 pm: Pre-ride (La Pequeña - GL30 route) and lunch at the Hico Volunteer Fire Department on Utility Street.

Saturday 5/14
Race day!

7:30 am: Race start

5:00 pm: Podium presentations

6:30 pm: Texas Brisket BBQ Dinner at Blue Star Trading Co. “Early Hico” Photo Exhibit (upstairs) at 112 S Pecan Street in Hico.


The race is in Hico, Texas.

Cadence Cyclery is a bike shop in McKinney, Texas. Their mantra is to offer modern cycling experiences with old-school service.
