UPDATE: Santa Vall X race recap
The 2024 race season is set to begin with the opening 3-day event of the Gravel Earth Series in Girona, called Santa Vall X. It’s an early start to the season, and I do not know how my racing form will be, but I’m excited to get back into the gravel scene.
This year has been very different from what I expected. Initially, it started like any other year, with a productive training camp in Guardamar with Andreas Ohldieck. However, as the year progressed, my focus shifted towards a significant event in my life – my wedding with Hanna Ersvik!
We gave our Yes in Lunder church and celebrated in snowy Norefjell.
Two days after our wedding, my wife and I embarked on a plane to Tulum, which is located outside Cancun in Mexico, for our honeymoon. To be honest, this was one of my first true vacations where I didn’t bring along my bike, as far back as I can remember. However, we enjoyed ourselves immensely and were able to disconnect from the stresses of everyday life.
I managed to sneak in some gym sessions during my vacation, so I wasn’t just lounging in the sun and the Caribbean Sea. With 101percent, we had planned for two easy weeks to help me reset my mind and body after an intense start to the year.
I am curious to see how my body will respond to the early season start, especially after the alternative preparations. Most of all, I am just happy to be a part of the gravel family and get some fun days of racing. After that, I will keep building my fitness towards more important races later this spring.
